What ever happened to civilian terms like ‘homemade bomb’, ‘pipe bomb’ or even ‘what looked to be a homemade bomb’? You’d think there was a terrorist stronghold in Sedalia, MO when this news is just about a guy in a trailer park getting served warrants for being stereotypical.
I think the media should stop using “IED” for US trailer park incidents, since it’s a military/war term. Sedalia paper calls it what it is…then the rest of the media seems to escalate it to an Al-Qaeda IED level.

If you put water and an Alka Seltzer in a film canister, is it an Alka Seltzer rocket or an IED?
