Mystery surrounds dog left dumped, barely alive
They got the dog home – she was matted and full of fleas – but the worst was underneath it all where they found two large lacerations.
“We had to do emergency surgery,” Henshaw said. “From the bottom of the laceration to the top it was connected.”
Honey pulled through surgery, but barely. She had ports put in to help drain the infection.
During her checkup, the vet found something else unusual. A microchip that was tracked back to the Hunte Corporation.
“Hunte Corporation is the largest dog broker in the United States,” Henshaw said. “They are the middle man between the puppy mills and the pet stores.”
KCTV5’s Jeanene Kiesling called Hunte Corporation to see if they could help figure out where the dog came from. They tracked Honey’s chip number back to a Petland store in Olathe, KS, that has since closed.
